A subdomain is part of a web address that's under the main domain name, for example name.example.com. Technically, even in www.example.com the "www" part is a subdomain because the fully qualified domain name is just "example.com". Each subdomain could have its own website and records and can also be hosted with a different company if you want to use a specific feature that isn't offered by your current service provider. One example for using a subdomain is if you have a company site and an online store under a subdomain where clients can purchase your products. Additionally, you can have a forum where they can talk about the products and by employing subdomains rather than subfolders you will avoid any risk of all sites going down when you perform maintenance, or update one of the website scripts. Keeping your websites separated is also less risky in case of a script security breach.

Subdomains in Shared Hosting

Every shared hosting plan which we provide will allow you to create many subdomains with no more than a few clicks in your hosting Control Panel. They are going to be listed in the section where you create them and grouped under the main domain for more convenience, so you can easily keep track of all of them. Furthermore, you can access many functions for any of the subdomains using right-click context menus - for example, you can view or edit their DNS records, access the website files, plus much more. While setting up a new subdomain, you are also going to have many options that you can pick from - define the default access folder, set unique error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions or decide if the subdomain is going to use a shared or a dedicated IP address. The number of subdomains you'll have is completely up to you because we have not limited this feature for any of our plans.

Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Servers

You’re able to create as many subdomains as you wish with any of our semi-dedicated hosting plans as we haven't set a maximum limit for this feature. The Hepsia web hosting Control Panel will allow you to add a new subdomain with just a few clicks and you can access a number of advanced features during the process - change the default access folder, choose the IP address the subdomain will use from the shared and dedicated ones that are offered in your account, activate FrontPage Extensions, add an SSL certificate, and a lot more. Even if you set up a great number of subdomains, you are going to be able to keep track of all of them with ease as they will be listed in alphabetical order below their main domain. For any of them, you can even access the web site files or see logs and usage statistics using quick access buttons.
