Whois Privacy Protection, at times also called Privacy or Whois Privacy Protection, is a service that conceals the genuine contact info of domain name owners on WHOIS lookup websites. Without such protection, the name, address and email account of any domain registrant will be openly visible. Supplying false details during the domain registration process or changing the real details at a later time will simply not work, as doing such a thing may result in the registrant losing their ownership rights. The policies approved by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, demand that the WHOIS info must be correct and accurate all the time. The Whois Privacy Protection service was launched by registrars as a response to the growing concerns for potential identity fraud. If the service is enabled, the domain registrar’s contact details will be displayed instead of the domain registrant’s upon a WHOIS lookup. Most domain names support the Whois Privacy Protection service, although there are certain country-code ones that don’t.

Whois Privacy Protection in Shared Hosting

If you get a shared hosting package from us, you’ll be able to enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of your domains on the condition that their extensions support this option. You can register/transfer a domain and add Whois Privacy Protection during the registration procedure or you can enable the service for any of your domain names at any moment afterwards via the Hepsia Control Panel. The process is surprisingly easy – after you log in, you’ll have to visit the Registered Domains section where you’ll see a list of all the domains that you’ve registered with our company. For each of them you will notice an “Whois Privacy Protection” symbol, which will inform you if the service is enabled or not. By clicking it, you can either Whois Privacy Protect the domain, or you can disable the service if it is currently active.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

In case you have a semi-dedicated server account with us and you register a domain name under it, you can add our Whois Privacy Protection service easily. This requires only a few clicks in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia Control Panel, via which you manage everything associated with your account. This is where you can see all your domain names and for each of them you’ll see an “Whois Privacy Protection” sign, using which you can activate, renew or deactivate the Whois Privacy Protection service. Of course, this can be done only with gTLD and ccTLD extensions that support this option and you will be able to see this in advance, so that you will not end up buying a service that we cannot provide.
